Leveraging visibility with CASA of Central Oregon

Updated: Feb 14, 2023

In 2022, CASA of Central Oregon came to us with a problem. The nonprofit needed to expand their community reach across Central Oregon to fulfill a lofty goal: recruiting 50 new advocates in a short time span to meet the great and growing need of youth in foster care throughout the region.

Our team worked with CASA’s executive director to identify a budget savvy strategic outreach and engagement plan that leveraged high-visibility opportunities to create a buzz in communities across Deschutes, Crook and Jefferson Counties.

The plan leveraged media relationships, social media, one-on-one stakeholder engagement with elected and community leaders, and presentations to large groups such as rotaries, chambers and Kiwanis clubs.

The result was a multi-pronged approach that elevated CASA’s profile across a diverse cross-section of communities.

“This project spanned over months and included stakeholder mapping, strategic counsel, developing materials, engaging with media and coordinating meetings,” said Heather Dion, CASA of Central Oregon executive director.

The results have been advocate trainings filled to capacity, new revenue sources, and improved understanding of CASA’s essential role in the region.

“As a result of their work, we've recruited more volunteers, established new relationships with key community leaders, and increased awareness regarding our mission to advocate for children in foster care in Central Oregon,” said Dion. “FM Civic has been a vital partner.”
